Stand up jetskis

Stand up Jet-skis!

Standups are the whip!
I  received one as a birthday gift a couple of years ago, (I eventually paid them off) and ever since I have been glued to that machine every summer. I guess it's just that adrenaline rush and my love for the water all mixed and blended together, that makes riding an irresistible pleasure for me.
"BAAAAP!"
These machines take the jet-skiing experience to the next level. They allow you to jump into the air without hitting waves, make turns on a dime, backflips, show off to the ladies, you know, everything you could dream of.
My jet-ski is a bright yellow-white-black, 1989, Kawasaki 650sx. Trust me, it's had a total makeover since we bought it. It came in stock white with blue decals. It had cracks in the hull, bad fuel lines, constantly breaking carburetor, faulty battery, and a broken handle pole spring.
NOW...
Everything is all fixed up and she looks like a beauty!
The only thing that has not been fixed is the spring. :/ But I'm planning on fixing that this year.

It will be a great summer!
GO RIDERS!

Water

Water makes me feel good!

I have never really understood it, but just being around water puts me in a better mood. I can only guess that it is a natural instinct. You know, water = hydration, hydration = life. And I'm not the only one to feel this way, I know many others who feel the same way.

I practically grew up on a lake. My parents always used to take me up to my grandparents house, which was in the Croton-Hardy Dam area on the Muskegon river. Boy did I have a blast! I still do as a matter of fact. I know my feeling of refreshment, relaxation and excitement by bodies of water has greatly been enhanced by those experiences.

I hope that everyone gets to have wonderful times and memories by the water and in it. It will make your "natural senses" much more powerful, and will make your life a little bit happier!

CREW!

Lately i've found an interest in crew (rowing). It is a competitive team sport where one/multiple person/s race on a river. There is a set distance and a number of different race teams. The first one to complete the course wins!

How rowing on a crew boat works:
First of all, there is a person at the stern who controls the rudder and gives commands to the rowers.
The rowers respond to these commands and either row when instructed to, or help to stabilize the boat. A certain amount of oars never leave the water, so the boat will never flip. (They're expensive!)

Anyhow, I'm currently in the process of joining the team, and I'll just have to see how things turn out!

Summer is coming!

I absolutely am ready for summer to be here. Yes, I love the skiing and snowboarding in the winter and will be sad to see them go, but I think it's about time to go and hit up the lake.

I can just feel something changing outside. It's almost like the sun just woke up and decided to change things up a bit! The snow feels wetter, the people are excited, and pretty soon we will be jumping in the water like this guy!

Yellow!

Who doesn't love yellow? It's bright, eye-catching, and looks great on cars! Ok, now everybody is stereotyping me haha! Anyway it has become one of my favorite colors.

I used to be absolutely in love with blue but for some reason it has become boring to me. As I get older I feel like those cool, low energy colors (green, blue, purple, etc.) don't represent my personality as well as they used to. You know, way back in the day,  I did't like to do all that much. I was a gamer I guess. Nowadays however, I'm far more energetic. I absolutely love to be outside and doing something. Especially if I'm going fast!

So yeah! Speed, Fun, Energy, they all are well represented well by these hot colors, and that's why I am falling in love with yellow!

Careers

Okay, I'm sorry that this breaks the current trend, but lets face it, your future career should definitely be one of your interests.

Astronautical engineering, my dream job. Haha, at least I hope it is! I love building things, I love to watch my work come together into some beautiful creation. Hence, I want to be an engineer. Here's my problem, I don't think I could handle wasting my life away behind a desk. I don't know what to do! I believe that my best option would be to do as many job shadows as I can. I would be totally okay with using the computer to design things but I would want to actually get to see what I made in real life, and how it preforms.

Like I said earlier, my dream job would involve designing satellites and rocket ships, but hey petroleum  engineering wouldn't be that bad either! You know, $80000 dollars a year starting pay isn't exactly what I would call cheap!

Skis I wish I had tried out

Skis!
Now that our high school ski season is coming to an end, I look back and see all of the amazing skis I could have raced on. One ski I wish I could have tried out is the the HEAD worldcup rebels. It simply glows of speed and agility. Plus it looks like a beast!

Yes I do LOVE my Fischer RC4's, but hey, I've never known anything else.
There are just so many different kinds it drives me crazy!
Like the Volkl Racetiger Worldcup,
Maybe one day I'll get the chance!
Although I may never want to use them after I see how much they cost!

Ski injuries

Ouch!
Getting hurt is a part of life.
It's okay.
We all end up being stronger from having them.
Just if you are going to get one, don't do it ski racing.

Yesterday, (Tuesday) a fellow teammate of mine had one of the most gruesome injuries I have ever seen. About halfway down a wicked giant slalom course, (it felt like a super g) he flew over a headwall and landed awkwardly. His ski twisted in a dangerous arc and his extremely over-sharpened edges burrowed themselves straight through his calf muscle, only stopping when they connected with his bone. His forward momentum and falling motion then dragged the ski down his leg completely severing a large chunk of meat from his body. About a fist sized peice.

Don't worry!
He was raced to the hospital and completed a successful surgery.
He's going to be okay.

Make what you want from this story,
But the lessons I learned were,

Never over sharpen your skiis
Always pay attention in course inspection
And practice

You need to be sure of yourself if you are going to put yourself in dangerous situations.

custom decals / custom stickers Make your own!

Sweet ideas!

Okay, so if you have ever been skiing or snowboarding, chances are that you have at least seen some awesome stickers. Wether it was on a helmet, snowboard, skiis, ect. that is your story. But look online, those stickers cost a ton of money to order! $5.00+ shipping, even more? What if there was a better way.

There are actually two different ways to make your own. Custom. Your way. Cheap.

One,
Buy sticker paper and just print out your images on it. Then cover them with clear tape and cut them out!

Two,
Buy and print your picture onto decal paper, then cover with clear spray paint. DON'T LET IT DRIP

NOTE, clear paper (decal or sticker) will not provide the quality of contrast white paper provides

Ski Race Tonight!

Yep,
Rippin's Racin'
Tonight I head off to my third ski race. Whew! I'm feeling so excited! Its not only that I've gotten way better from last week, but I feel like I actually have a shot at moving way up in the rankings!

I started off the season with no idea how to do anything, but can feel myself changing week to week. I never would have thought that anyone could pick up a skill so fast! Granted, I'm not an all-star, haha! Even so, the time I invested into this sport has given me great confidence in myself, and helped me to truly believe that anything is possible!
